One school in India is keen to show how we can all make a difference in reducing the amount of energy we use - even through the smallest of actions.
The Reubs EcoClub has been taking part in a special school energy project organised by the Centre for Environment Education and Alliance to Save Energy.
The children have formed special 'check teams' to stop wastage of electricity and water throughout their city.
They visited 2000 homes in the eastern surburb of Ahmedabad and found over 10,000 litres of water being wasted each day from leaking taps, many of which the children repaired themselves.
Within their school the team visit each classroom to check that no electricity is being wasted.
Where waste is found the team act quickly: 'Every classroom has a separate electricity fuse. If the "check team" find the lights or fans on with no one in the classroom, the fuse is removed for a day from the offending class compelling them to be without fans for a day.'
At the end of the year the club members attend a special energy fair, known as the Urja Utsav, at which 10,000 students from 1500 schools come together to have fun and swap energy stories.
