Children of the Nineties
Thousands of children living in and around Bristol are part of a large population study looking at the effect of genes and environment on our health. Called 'Children of the Nineties', the project enrolled 14,000 pregnant women and newborn babies during 1991 and 1992. The parents filled out questionnaires detailing the mother's pregnancy, as well as their health, lifestyle and family history. Scientists have taken biological samples, including DNA, from all the families, and will carry out regular health checks on the children over the coming years.
