Evolutionary leftovers

Our ancestors gradually adapted to their changing environments through natural selection. Our bodies still bear witness to our ancestors' lifestyle. For instance, we have an appendix and wisdom teeth that we don't need, but early humans required them to cope with their diet of raw plants. This is also true of some behaviour: a fear of snakes may be inherited from our early ancestors.
