Misguided science

Eugenics was based on prejudice - its followers assumed that all human characteristics were genetic, and ignored the possible effects of other factors, such as standard of living, diet or upbringing. There are still those in our society today who believe that some people are born superior to others, and scientific evidence is still open to misinterpretation and misuse. But the dangers of genetic discrimination need to be weighed up against the potential health benefits of modern genetics research.

Poor people in the world today are still subject to prejudice.
