Mitchell's sketchbook
Drawings and sketches were R J Mitchell's tools of the trade; he always carried a sketchbook for his early ideas and designs, as he could take it anywhere and jot down ideas when away from the office. The drawings were ideal raw material from which Supermarine draughtsmen could create accurate production drawings for both the Supermarine flying boats and later the Spitfire.
