Anatomical model of a horse, c 1850-1880.

Half size, papier mache model of a horse with annotated parts, made by Dr Louis Auzoux (1797-1880) of France. Such models were made to help veterinary scientists to understand the form and structure of horses. Although Auzoux graduated from medical school in 1822, he never practiced medicine, but became famous as an anatomical model maker working with papier mache. The dimensions of this model are 1700mm x 500mm x 1577mm.
