Vaccine carrier and single use syringes, Indian, 1994.

Vaccine carrier model IVC-3-002, manufactured in New Delhi, India, and supplied by the UNICEF Supply Division, Copenhagen, Denmark. The syringes contain a ratchet to prevent reuse and the possible transmission of HIV (Human Immuno-deficiency Virus) and other viruses, via infected needles. The carrier is designed to maintain the cold-chain and contains four icepacks because many commonly used vaccines lose their potency if they are not kept cool. It was approved by UNICEF and the World Health Organisation (WHO) for use in the Extended Programme on Immunisation (EPI).
