Tobold's laryngeal syringe, early 20th century.

This steel and glass syringe was designed by Professor Adelbert von Tobold (1827-1907), the German laryngologist, and made by Down Bros of London. It was used for spraying anaesthetic into the larynx prior to carrying out surgery.
