The PDP-8, or Straight-8, minicomputer was manufactured by the Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), United States. It was the first minicomputer, and the first DEC computer to be made with an automatic wire-wrapped backplane, which made the machine cheaper to produce and more reliable. Over 5000 were sold worldwide. It is shown here with the casing removed.
