These figures are of men with most of their skin peeled back to reveal some of the anatomy of the body. They are made from coloured wax and are mounted on wooden stands. They are thought to be the work of Anna Morandi Manzolini (1716-74) an Italian craftswoman in Bologna, whose skills as a wax modeller were famous in her day.
