Wooden case containing two needles and four lancets, all metal. The instruments would have been used for blood letting and suturing (stitching) wounds. In the ancient world India was the leader in surgery, amputation punishments for crimes meant surgeons gained practice in cosmetic surgery, as well as in sewing wounds, and removing kidney and bladder stones.
