Plant pot made from recycled plastic, 1990.

Made by Cookson Plastics from recycled polypropylene (polypropene) reclaimed from the process scrap of the fibre industry. When manufacturing processes are scaled up to an industrial level, there are often large amounts of waste material, such as moulding joins or scraps, or as in this case, fibres. Because thermoplastics, of which polypropylene is an example, soften when heated without decomposing, the scrap material can be re-moulded.
