A piece of fixed store mesh from the Manchester University Computer ATLAS, which was constructed in a joint venture with Ferranti Ltd., becoming available in 1962. ATLAS had a combined storage system which gave the impression of a much larger and faster main store than was physically available. This was not incorporated into commercial computers until ten years later.
