Newly discovered bust of James Watt, 1807-2010
This bust comes from a plaster mould in Watt's workshop. The item had been a mystery, and it wasn't known what image lay within it. For this exhibit the mould was scanned by laser and the 'cast' produced digitally using rapid prototyping techniques. The result is a hitherto unknown view of the great engineer.
