What is the project?
The Energy Gallery was created to help young people explore how energy powers every aspect of their lives and discover the latest ideas on how we'll meet the planet's growing demands in the years ahead.
To promote this new gallery the Science Museum's
Energy Outreach Team embarked on an innovative project using film to inspire and educate year 7 students about the subject of energy.
Since 2004, this Science Museum project, supported by BP, has worked with a total of 27 schools and reached over 4125 year 7 students in London, Swindon and Hull.
During the year each school received 4 visits from Maria, Claire and Shell in the Energy Outreach Team. These consisted of:
At the end of each academic year, all classes involved in the project were invited in to a Celebration day at the Science Museum. Students attended the premiere of their own short films created whilst on the project on the topic of energy. These films were screened in the Science Museum's IMAX cinema.
