Stay or go?
Once made, some proteins stay in the cytoplasm. Others move to the cell nucleus or cell membrane, where they are used by the cell. Still others are exported outside the cell, to carry out tasks in your body. The hormone insulin, for example, leaves the cell and enters the bloodstream to adjust sugar levels in the body.
