How long will you live?

The lives of our Stone Age ancestors were dangerous, and short. As recently as a century ago, the average life span in the UK was only 49 years for men, and 52 for women. Many children died before the age of five. Today, thanks to steady improvements in diet, healthcare and living conditions, the average life span has risen to 74 for men and 79 for women.

We live longer lives than our ancestors.
