Sharing out production

In September 1940, production was badly hit when Supermarine's factories were bombed. Over 170 people were killed and buildings were destroyed, but the tools and equipment survived. New premises were quickly taken over to disperse production in case of further attacks. Contracts were also placed with the Westland aircraft company at Yeovil, in Somerset.
