Air-to-air combat

Combat in the air could be both exhilarating and terrifying. Pilots could never escape the fact that their lives were on the line. They saw their friends and family shot down around them, but they fought through the fear and chose to go on. Churchill summed up their amazing spirit: 'Undaunted by odds, unwearied in their constant challenge and mortal danger, [they] are turning the tide of the World War'.
