Open seven days a week, 10.00-18.00. Entry to the Museum is free.

Early Birds

Early Birds enables families with children who have an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) to come along and enjoy the Museum free from the hustle and bustle of the general public.

Taking place on particular Saturdays across the year, we open the Museum early at 8.30am and some of our interactive galleries remain available exclusively to booked Early Birds guests until 11.15am. As well as exploring some of the galleries you can enjoy a selection of fun workshops and thrilling demonstrations.

All of these events are completely free and suitable for families with children under the age of 14.

When is the next Early Birds?

The next Early Birds takes place on Saturday 13th December.

Do I need to book?

Places are limited so you do need to book. Bookings open from 10.00am on Thursday 13th November.

Call us on 020 7942 4777 and we'll send you an email confirming your places. Our lines can get very busy so please bear with us if you can't get through at first.

How can I find out about future dates for Early Birds?

The dates for Early Birds in 2015 will be posted here in the second week of December.

We will also contact our Early Birds mailing list to let people know the new dates and when booking will open. If you would like to be added to the Early Birds mailing list please email: familyprogrammes@sciencemuseum.ac.uk.

What else do I need to know?

Once you have booked we will email more information about the programme for your visit about a week in advance.

Our Visual Story can help you prepare for your visit. (If you have problems downloading the pdf, right click on the link and use 'Save Target As...' or 'Save link as...' to save the file to your pc.)

Not all areas of the Museum will be open during Early Birds. The programme we send you nearer the time will explain the areas that you will be able to explore.

When the Museum opens to general visitors at 10am some areas will remain exclusively for Early Birds guests until 11.15am. At 11.15 all areas of the Museum will be open to the general public. At this point you are welcome to stay and explore other galleries that were not available during Early Birds.

I'm a school teacher, can I bring my class?

Early Birds is just for families, so please feel free to spread the word to the parents of pupils aged under 14 years.

Thank you

Early Birds is supported by The Lord Leonard and Lady Estelle Wolfson Foundation.
