The Knowledge: Drone building workshop

The Knowledge is a series of events that let you spend a day with the experts at workshops, talks and tours. As well as having fun, you'll take away in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of the fascinating science behind the subjects in the Museum's current exhibitions.

Drone building and flying workshop in Special Exhibition Gallery 2
+ curator tour of Mathematics: The Winton Gallery
+ entry to Robots
Saturday 8 July 2017
8.30–12.30

This second entry in The Knowledge series of events focuses on flight. We've teamed up with Extreme Fliers to offer you a crash course in drone technology at a fun, interactive workshop.

Under Extreme Fliers' tutelage you'll receive an introduction to the technology, followed by the chance to build your own Micro Drone. Then you'll be given a flying lesson, after which you will have mastered basic hovering and landing skills. You can even try your hand at more advanced racing techniques.

The best part? You'll take your Micro Drone home with you at the end.

This event also includes free out-of-hours entry to our blockbuster Robots exhibition and a guided tour of the acclaimed new Mathematics: The Winton Gallery led by curator David Rooney. Admission includes refreshments on arrival, lunch, tea and coffee.

Please note that places are limited to 30 and demand is expected to be high.
This event is open to all ages but is recommended for ages 16+
