Birthday party information
For a birthday to remember bring your party to the Science Museum and experience the exciting range of activities and events on offer to make your child's day special. Birthday parties can be held at the Science Museum for groups of at least ten children and although members of staff do not lead parties, they are always on hand to help or answer any questions you may have. Due to the public nature of the attraction the Museum cannot be allocated for the exclusive use of your party.
Book your party with the Science Museum and not only do you get a great day out but you can also use our free birthday invitation template. Just download our invitation template, print out and copy it in colour, fill in your details and send to all your guests! Children can also have fun adding their own finishing touches by decorating their print-outs and sticking them to some coloured card.

Science Museum IMAX® 3D Cinema
For a day you'll never forget visit the Science Museum IMAX 3D Cinema and indulge your senses! From the moment the film starts you will be captivated by the screen which is taller than four double-decker buses and fills your peripheral vision. Accompanied by a digital surround sound system, this enormous screen immerses you deep within the action, allowing you to experience things you never thought possible - the weightlessness of space, the thrill of diving to the bottom of the sea or walking on the Moon. With a range of 3D movies there is something to suit all tastes and ages.
IMAX is not recommended for children under 5 years old and children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult.

Birthday Cake (£30 per cake)
Our special chef-baked double chocolate fudge birthday cakes are individually made to order on site using all natural ingredients. Each cake will yield up to 20 portions.
Please be advised that the party area in the restaurant will be available to your party for the duration of your meal but unfortunately will not be available as a base from which to host your party.
Goody bags (£5.95 each)
Each goody bag contains a pen, spirit level key ring, mesh ball, rainbow Slinky and whoopee putty from our own Science Museum Store.
The lowest age group we accept for Science Museum birthday parties is 5 years old. This is based on the nature and suitability of the activites involved.
Big Screen Birthday (£12.00 per child)
An IMAX movie and a meal in our Deep Blue Café.
Birthday Co-ordinator & Booking fee - £50
This is a mandatory charge for each birthday party, which includes the birthday co-ordinator and administration costs.
Your birthday co-ordinator will act as a guide for your birthday party.
1. Escorting your group to the various different areas of the Science Museum
2. Processing your tickets and any additions on the day
3. Making sure your party arrives on time to each booked event
Your birthday co-ordinator will not supervise the children in the party and at no time should the adults of the group leave their children unattended.

Please note that confirmation and payment of birthday parties must be made two weeks prior to the event. Due to the high volume of visitors in the Museum, birthday party bookings cannot be taken for the October and February half terms and the Easter holidays.
