British Sign Language Interpreter – Saturday 26th September 2009

This year we are pleased to announce that we will be employing a British Sign Language Interpreter to interpret the activities throughout the night. We encourage you to tell anyone you may know who would benefit from our interpreter.

Plus Membership Family Night

We are also holding an exclusive “Family Night” on Saturday 1st August. This special evening is open to Science Museum Plus members only. If you are interested and would like further information or would like to join, find out more about Science Museum Plus Membership.

This evening is open to children aged 6 – 14 years of age and there is no minimum group size. The largest group we can accommodate is a family of 6 people.

We need at least one person from each group to be a member of our Membership Plus scheme.

Places are limited and are given on a first come, first served basis. Please note, payment must be made at the time of booking. We can only accept credit or debit card payments. Please have your card ready when you make your booking.

Science Night

Booking and Price Information

On each Science Night, the minimum group we can book is 5 children and 1 adult.  We need approximately 1 adult to every 6 children. Children MUST be aged 8, 9, 10 or 11 and adults over the age of 18 years old.

Science Night Bursary Fund

We can also offer some additional support with payments. This fund is supported by the Brink Trust, Johnson Matthey and Tesco. It is here to enable children from social priority areas to attend Science Night.
With the help of the bursary, the cost for Science Night is:

What does Science Night include?

  • Experienced Staff who will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable event
  • Materials for hands-on workshops
  • Breakfast
  • Overnight accommodation sleeping amongst the Science Museum's objects
  • A 3D IMAX film

All children must come to Science Night as part of a group.

  • All children must be 8, 9, 10 or 11 years old
  • Adults need to be over 18 years old
  • The smallest group you can bring is 5 children and 1 adult

How many adults do we need?

Your group will be together for the whole of the event. You will sleep in the same gallery but boys and girls have separate sleeping areas within the gallery.

  • For an all girl group you will need 1 female adult for every 5-6 children
  • For an all boy group you will need 1 female or 1 male adult for every 5-6 children
  • For a mixed group you will need 2 female adults or 1 female and 1 male adult for every 5-9 children

Can we bring a child with special needs?

  • Yes, of course.  
  • We can also provide a special educational needs co-ordinator to give help and advice on the night
  • Please let us know when you book how we can help your group get the most out of the Science Night experience
