The Time Measurement gallery traces how people all around the world have kept time over the centuries.

From sand-glasses to sundials, water clocks to the wristwatches that we take for granted today, this rich collection of more than 500 timepieces illustrates the ingenuity and skills of their makers.

Please note: the Time Measurement gallery will be closed to the public from 17 June 2008 until Summer 2009 due to the construction of a new exhibition space in the adjacent galleries.
