Visiting with kids

The Museum is a great place for a family day out - use the information below to help plan your day.

Bag and pushchair storage
There is a cloakroom located on the Lower Ground floor which can be accessed via the stairway and glass lifts at the front of the building. £1 per coat/scooter/folded buggy/umbrella, £2 per small bag or £4 per large bag and unfolded buggy.

Baby care
Wheelchair-accessible baby changing facilities are available on the Lower Ground floor, in the Basement, on the Ground floor by the Exploring Space gallery and on the Second floor by the Ships gallery.

Food and drinks
There are designated picnic areas are in the Basement and on the Third floor and you can eat in any quiet uncarpeted area of the Museum. You can buy food and drinks from our restaurants and cafes. If you have specific dietary requirements, please call the Enquiry Line in advance of your visit.

First aid
There are two first aid rooms in the museum, both of which are located on the ground floor. If you require the use of a first aid room please ask a member of staff for assistance.

Lost children

When coming to the museum you can get a wristband for your child at the information desk for free. In case of a missing child, report to a member of staff and the security will be informed.

Shopping:

Located at the front of the museum, the Museum Shop sells groovy gadgets, hot hands-on kits, super science toys, gorgeous gifts and much more. You can also shop online.

Toilets:
Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available in the Basement and on the Ground, First, Second and Third floors. They are also available on all floors of the Wellcome Wing. Please refer to the Museum map or the touchscreen information terminals for positions.

Footwear:

The Museum is fairly compact, but visits can involve plenty of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.
