Astronights—Groups

Astronights starts at 18.45, and groups enter at this time through the Science Museum’s Main Entrance on Exhibition Road. 

The nearest tube station is South Kensington (Piccadilly, District and Circle lines). More information about getting to the museum can be found on our Visit Us page. 

A typical Astronights programme looks like this:

Your group are welcome to stay in the museum after the sleepover ends. We are unable to store your bags, but lockers are available for a fee. 

If you are leaving at 10.00, we will ask you to exit via our Groups Entrance on Imperial College Road, just around the corner from the main entrance. Please ask any parents to collect their children from there. The Group Leader is responsible for ensuring that all members of their party are collected from the museum safely. 

Any group of up to 500 is welcome to join us at Astronights (subject to availability). 

If you would like to bring more than 90 people (including adults), we will contact you in advance to discuss how we split your group for activities on the night. 

The sleeping galleries are mixed-gender sleeping areas with both male and female staff supervising overnight. All staff supervising overnight hold an Enhanced DBS check. Your group will sleep together (unless you are a very large group). Galleries will be supervised over night by male and female staff. 

Some lights will remain on throughout the night for your safety. 

For Brownies and Guides Groups, all children attending must be Brownies or Guides aged 7-12. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children outside of this age range. 

All leaders and volunteers attending must be aged 18+. Young leaders are not permitted to attend Astronights due to museum safeguarding policy. 

Unfortunately, we do not allow inflatable mattresses at Astronights, as they cause a trip hazard in our galleries. However, we do provide you with camping mats to sleep on to make you a little more comfortable. 

Campers need to bring an evening snack with them, packed separately from their other belongings. We advise having an evening meal before arriving at the museum. 

We supply breakfast, which typically includes a croissant, cereal bar, fruit, and juice, with tea or coffee for the adults. Some alternatives are available for those with dietary requirements. Please mention this at the time of booking and get in touch with any questions. Unfortunately, we are unable to cater for every dietary need.
