Preparing for your visit

Here's some useful information to help you prepare once you've booked your visit.

  • Your confirmation email contains your group’s museum entry e-ticket, you will scan this at our group entrance (see Google Maps or what3words: ///forum.friend.famed) to get into the museum. It also acts as your ticket for other activities you have booked. The group entrance is open Monday to Friday 10.00 – 17.00, during weekends and holidays please use the main entrance on Exhibition Road.

  • Log into our group booking portal to view and manage your booking.

  • If you need to make changes to your booking, please contact us as soon as possible. Our group booking terms and conditions define what changes you are allowed to make.

  • Don’t forget, if you chose to pay by invoice, please ensure payment is made by the due date on the invoice.

  • Read our safeguarding information.

  • Use our risk assessment information, hazard identification sheet and insurance confirmation letter to help you create your own risk assessments.

  • Download our museum map to help you plan your routes around the building, and make copies for your accompanying adults.  Schools and formal education groups should use this version for visits on weekdays in term time. Other groups visiting at the weekend and in holidays will find this version more helpful.

  • Find activities and trails to help you explore and provide a focus.

  • If you are traveling by coach, there is a coach drop-off and pick-up point in Exhibition Road outside the museum. The driver will need to park elsewhere;  the nearest coach parks are located at Warwick Road, Bayswater Road and Park Lane.

  • The Science Museum is a public building and your group will be sharing the space with many other visitors. We require adult leaders to remain with their groups at all times, to ensure their safeguarding, manage them during an evacuation and supervise behaviour.

  • Show this film to your group to help set the scene for your trip:
  • Remind children about our code of conduct.
  • Our picnic areas are not bookable, they operate on a free flow basis.
  • See our FAQs page for more useful information.
