Step into the fascinating world of STEM careers for a peek behind the scenes in our brand new interactive gallery.
Experience what it’s like to create visual effects on a blockbuster film set, analyse blood samples in a medical laboratory, operate a robot in a manufacturer's workshop, fix a fault atop a wind turbine and much more.
Recreating the workplaces of technicians across multiple sectors – health science, creative arts, manufacturing and renewable energy – your group will get hands-on with interactive exhibits that simulate job-related tasks. We’ve collaborated with Marvel Studios, the NHS, National Grid, the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and many others to create this gallery.
Download the gallery guide to support your visit to the Technicians gallery. The guide includes a map of the gallery, key objects not to be missed and questions to try out with your group during the visit.
School groups can also book our free, Meet an Employee workshop where they can meet technicians from our partner organisations. School groups will be able to take part in hands-on activities designed by technicians or put their questions to technicians in separate Q&A sessions.
Experience a world of careers in one place:
- Set foot inside Shuri’s Lab from Marvel Studios’ Black Panther to re-enact the role of a film-set lighting technician.
- Have a go at making lifesaving medicine as an NHS pharmacy technician.
- Operate a robotic arm and try your hand at welding a rollercoaster track.
- Step into the world of renewable energy and solve problems faced by a wind turbine technician.
The gallery will support productive careers conversations with young people by offering an informal yet educational encounter with a huge range of technical career paths.
A visit could support in meeting Gatsby’s Good Career Guidance benchmarks by providing opportunities to experience workplace environments and encounter employers and employees.
