Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries–groups

The world’s largest display dedicated to the story of medicine. KS2 and upwards (ages 7+). -

Spanning centuries and continents, more than 3,000 astonishing objects reveal how our ideas about health have changed throughout history to the present day.

Arranged as five themed galleries, the displays provide an unparalleled resource for secondary students, with links to Science, History, Psychology, PSHE and Religious Studies. They are also relevant for KS2 children.

The five galleries are:

  • Medicine and Bodies
  • Exploring Medicine
  • Medicine and Treatments: The GSK Gallery
  • Medicine and Communities
  • Faith, Hope and Fear

Download the gallery guide and the activity trails below to help you and your students make the most of the galleries and keep the conversation going back at school.

Our free digital 3D models resource allows students to experience our medical collection in the classroom (or as homework) from any computer or mobile device. Explore the objects from every angle with information about each item and discussion questions to get conversations started.
