Before you book an educational group visit to the Science Museum, please read the following information.
To ensure your visit runs smoothly, we ask all educational groups to book in advance.
The easiest way to book is online, using our visit request form.
Alternatively, you can call us on 020 7942 4777 on Monday to Wednesday: 08.45–16.30 or Thursday to Friday: 08.45–15.15. Times may vary during school holiday periods.
This film provides an introduction to visiting the Science Museum:
On weekdays, educational groups enter via the Group Entrance on Imperial College Road. At weekends, please use the Main Entrance on Exhibition Road. See Getting to the Museum below for travel information and maps.
Entry to the Museum is free, but charges apply for some activities. See individual events and gallery pages for details.
The Museum is normally open daily 10.00–18.00 (19.00 during school holidays) and is closed 24 to 26 December. Any changes will be listed on our visiting pages.
Our hands-on areas are very popular and require pre-booking so they don't get too busy.
Wonderlab: The Equinor Gallery requires pre-booking by schools and education groups visiting at any time.
Please tell us at the time of booking if you would like to include these areas in your itinerary. If they are not listed on your visit confirmation letter, your group will not be allowed to enter.
If possible, make a preliminary visit to familiarise yourself with the galleries and plan your routes around the Museum. Ask us about teacher preview tickets for IMAX films, Wonderlab and special exhibitions.
The Museum is undergoing an exciting redevelopment and some galleries are closed while we create new displays. Check for gallery closures that might impact on your plans.
Let us know as early as possible on 020 7942 4777 and we will do our best to rearrange any pre-booked activities for you.
