What will my visit look like?

Arrive at the main museum entrance for 10.15, head straight up the stairs to Wonderlab: The Equinor Gallery on Level 3. Our Explainers will greet your class and show you where to store your bags.
- Spend 60 minutes exploring the interactive exhibits. Explainers will be on hand to help students engage with the exhibits. Look out for the live demos too.
- Watch the Wonder Show, an optional 20-minute science showcase. (Costs £2.50 per student, booking terms apply.)
- Collect your belongings and head out to explore our amazing galleries. Use our free gallery resources to spark curiosity about the things you see.
Key information before you request a visit
- One session is available per day on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays—please check the scheduled dates above.
- The session is for up to 40 people in the same established bubble (students and accompanying adults).
- The adult:student ratio is 1:8 for KS2 and 1:10 for KS3 and proactive supervision is required at all times.
- Each session runs from 10.30–11.30 (please do not be late).
- The optional Wonder Show is at 11.30-11.50 in the Wonderlab Show Space.
- You will be the only school group during your session, plus some members of the public.
What else do I need to know?
- Wonderlab is a very spacious gallery with plenty of room for your group to socially distance.
- If you arrive late for a session, we are unlikely to be able to extend your visit due to limited capacity in the gallery throughout the day.
- For the safety of students, some exhibits are not in use, including those involving the mouth or close contact with the face. However, over 30 exhibits will be open.
- An enhanced cleaning regime is in place and hand sanitisers are located throughout the gallery. For more information on our safety measures, please refer to our FAQs.
- Toilets in Wonderlab are open for your group to use during the session. These facilities are also open to members of the public in Wonderlab.
- Face coverings must be worn by anyone over the age of 11 unless they are exempt. This is in line with Government guidelines. Please see more information on our FAQ page.
