Before you book an educational group visit to the Science Museum, please read the following information.
First, you'll need to decide what to include in your itinerary using our See and do for schools page. You can also find trails and apps to help students explore the Museum on our Learning resources website.
To ensure your visit runs smoothly, we ask all educational groups to book their visit in advance. The easiest way to do this is online, using our visit request form.
Alternatively, you can call us on 020 7942 4777 at the following times (these may vary during school holidays):
- Monday to Wednesday: 08.45–16.30
- Thursday to Friday: 08.45–15.15
Watch our introduction to visiting the Science Museum:
On weekdays, educational groups enter via the Group Entrance on Imperial College Road. At weekends, please use the Main Entrance on Exhibition Road. See Getting to the Museum below for travel information and maps.
Entry to the Museum is free, but charges apply for some activities. See individual events and gallery pages for details.
The Museum is normally open daily 10.00–18.00 (19.00 during school holidays) and is closed 24 to 26 December. Any changes will be listed on our visiting pages.
Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery requires pre-booking by schools and education groups visiting at any time.
Please tell us at the time of booking if you would like to visit these galleries. If they are not listed on your visit confirmation letter, your students will not be allowed to enter.
Preliminary visits and gallery closures
We strongly recommend a preliminary visit to familiarise yourself with the galleries and plan your routes around the Museum.
The Museum is undergoing a number of changes and some of our galleries are closed while we create exciting new displays. Please check our gallery closures page before you request your visit.
Let us know as early as possible on 020 7942 4777 and we will do our best to rearrange any pre-booked activities for you.
