• Reach—Would this exhibition appeal to our existing audience segmentation or help us reach new audiences—either locally or globally?
• Inspire—Does the proposal provide an opportunity to develop an innovative, new creative experience of STEM subjects?
• Engage—Does the proposal help to establish a meaningful relationship with our Group-wide teams, the public, scientific and research communities, national and international partners and others in relevant dialogue and debate?

Over 200,000 people can experience our biggest exhibitions in over 1,200m2 of adaptable and accessible space. Appealing to the widest audience, these exhibitions stretch the imagination and stimulate curiosity, bringing to London the world’s most amazing objects alongside our own magnificent collections.

Exhibitions that premiere here will then tour both nationally and internationally for up to five years, supporting the museum for future generations.

Exhibitions in this gallery challenge perceptions of how science and technology have changed people’s lives throughout global history.

At 600m2, this elegant and versatile environmentally conditioned space is able to showcase our extraordinary collections as well as unique international loans. The space can be expanded to encompass the Studio Gallery described below. 

A space to inspire curiosity and challenge perceptions about the relationships between science, culture and society, past and present.

A highly versatile space of 250m2, able to accommodate both loans and our own objects, it has also hosted performance art, installations and digital experiences for inquiring minds and diverse audiences. 

This 100m2 space is dedicated to science and technology that is changing the world now and tomorrow. This is where we display thematic exhibitions that make research and development tangible and inspire a younger generation with the stories of the people doing this work.

The offer in this space targets tweens, teens and adults – a savvy generation not only interested in science but also its wider impacts for their communities. Featuring cutting-edge objects from R&D labs, multimedia and interactive displays, these exhibitions present the big issues and trends of the day in a manner that strips away the hype, informs and empowers.
