Join us for the London premiere of the Netflix documentary 'The Great Hack', which delves into the explosive Cambridge Analytica scandal.
To mark the opening of our brand-new exhibition Top Secret, we explore the dark world of data exploitation for a very special screening and Q&A. Introducing the film is Emmy Award-winning actor Riz Ahmed (Rogue One, Four Lions) and joining us after the film are the following guest speakers:
- Oscar-nominated filmmakers Karim Amer and Jehane Noujaim, directors of 'The Great Hack' whose previous credits include 'The Square', 'Control Room' and 'Startup.com'
- Pulitzer finalist and Orwell Prize-winning investigative reporter Carole Cadwalladr, whose investigative reporting exposed the Cambridge Analytica/Facebook scandal in 2018
- Former Cambridge Analytica Chief Executive Julian Wheatland
- British mathematician, television presenter and author of 'Hello World: How to be Human in the Age of the Machine', Hannah Fry
The Great Hack synopsis
Data has surpassed oil as the world's most valuable asset. It's being weaponised to wage cultural and political warfare. People everywhere are in a battle for control of our most intimate personal details. From award-winning film-makers Karim Amer and Jehane Noujaim, 'The Great Hack' uncovers the dark world of data exploitation with astounding access to the personal journeys of key players on different sides of the explosive Cambridge Analytica/Facebook data scandal.
'The Great Hack' premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Amer and Noujaim, the film is produced by Geralyn Dreyfous, Judy Korin and Pedro Kos.
