Sackler CPD Study Day: Strategies of Digital Curating

Held in collaboration with the Contemporary Art Society and Serpentine Galleries, this seminar explores the different roles that the ‘digital’ holds within institutions.

New and emerging digital technologies are having a transformational impact on the way we work, learn and engage. These require a set of new skills for curators, a hybrid between technical expertise and curatorial knowledge.

Throughout the day we will discuss the perceived immateriality of the medium and the support which we might need when collecting, displaying and archiving digital and technology-focused works.

By looking at the ways in which different institutions manage digital projects, we hope to discuss the following:

  • digital and tech literacy
  • the hybridity of technical and curatorial skills
  • collaboration between departments.
