A future race of humans finds itself on the verge of extinction. Almost all that’s left in the world are lone and surreal monuments, beaming their message into the wilderness.

Based on the ground-breaking 1930 novel by Olaf Stapledon, Last and First Men (2020) concluded the beautiful career of the Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson. Neon Dance presents a contemporary dance work set to the backdrop of Johann Jóhannsson’s 16mm black and white film, with parts of the narration from Tilda Swinton and original score composed by Jóhannsson and Yair Elazar Gotman. Featuring choreography from Adrienne Hart, body artefacts from Ana Rajcevic, lighting design by Charlie Hope and violinist Viktor
Orri Árnason.

A pre-show touch tour will take place before the show at  19.00 in the IMAX foyer. Facilitated by Jemima Hoadley and Neon Dance Artistic Director, Adrienne Hart, blind and partially sighted audience members will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the set, props and costumes ahead of the performance.

The performance will be live audio described by Louise Dickson, Illuminate Freedom. Headsets will be available for use from the IMAX foyer.
