The Science Museum is temporarily closed.
When open, the museum's opening hours are 10.00–18.00 (last entry 17.15).
Galleries start to close 30 minutes before the museum closes.
To ensure you have the space you need to explore the museum safely and confidently, all visitors are now required to pre-book free tickets in advance.

We will be offering you a very warm welcome as always, but we have put some new measures in place to ensure you can enjoy the museum safely:

All visitors must book free, timed tickets in advance so that we can manage the number of people in the museum

Self-guided routes and social distancing guidelines will be in place across the museum with clear signage in place to help visitors have a relaxed visit

Protective screens will be installed at all ticket desks and information points

Hand sanitiser stations will be located throughout the museum

Enhanced cleaning regimes throughout the museum, including toilets,high-touch areas and our interactive galleries

Tickets will be scanned by contactless e-scanners

Contactless payment is encouraged where possible
Before your visit you’ll receive an email with helpful information about how to have a safe and enjoyable day out at the museum.
We have pre-bookable Lunch bags and Kids bags available to purchase when you book your ticket online.
You will be able to select from a sandwich or salad when booking and the additional contents (fruit, drinks etc.) can be selected on the day of your visit.
If you have any allergies or dietary requirements you can let us know during the booking process.

A choice of sandwich or salad with a bag of Piper’s crisps, a piece of fruit and a cold drink from a choice available on the day.
Kid’s bag
A choice of sandwich, along with a bag of popcorn, a piece of fruit and a cold drink from a choice available on the day.
What if I don’t have access to the internet to book a free ticket?

How can I travel to the museums safely?
We encourage you to check the Transport for London (TfL) website to plan your journey and to get up to date Government guidance on travelling by public transport.
The museum is accessible by walking or cycling. The TfL website has information on walking and cycling routes in the capital.
Will tickets be available at the door?
We cannot guarantee that tickets will be available on the day. We recommend that you pre-book your free museum tickets in advance of your visit.
How long can I stay in the museum?
You are welcome to explore the museum for as long as you would like, but an average visit takes around two hours.
Will the café and shop be open?
The Energy Café and main shop will be open for you to enjoy.
